Kentucky: Council on Postsecondary Education

Southern Regional Education Board Programs

The Council partners with the Southern Regional Education Board (SREB) to coordinate programs to increase the availability of academic programs for Kentucky students.

  • Academic Common Market
The Academic Common Market is a cooperative tuition-reduction agreement among 16 SREB states which enables Kentucky students who are interested in an academic program not offered at a public university in Kentucky to pay in-state tuition at participating colleges and universities.
  • Optometry Contract Spaces
Optometry Contract Spaces provide Kentucky students the opportunity to study optometry at schools outside the state at reduced tuition.
  • Veterinary Medicine Contract Spaces
Veterinary Medicine Contract Spaces provide Kentucky students the opportunity to study veterinary medicine at schools outside the state at reduced tuition.
  • Doctoral Scholars Program
The SREB Doctoral Scholars Program addresses the present underrepresentation of ethnic minorities in postsecondary education by encouraging ethnic minority students to pursue doctoral degrees for careers as college professors.
