- Council Students with Disabilities Policy (14K PDF)
The Students with Disabilities policy establishes guidelines for the adoption of policies by public and private postsecondary education institutions with residence facilities in order to provide students with a disability a safe environment in which to live and study. The policy requires institutions to develop and maintain a housing and security policy and to prepare a list of students with disabilities in residential facilities at that institution. Each semester this list is to be given to campus housing and security authorities for use in addressing the safety of these students during an emergency.
- Guidelines for Accessibility of Electronically Delivered Instruction and Services, May 2005
The Governor’s ADA Taskforce on Postsecondary Education was appointed with the goals and commitment to ensure that public postsecondary institutions in Kentucky are providing equal educational opportunities and full participation for all persons with disabilities. These guidelines developed by the Task Force ensures that no otherwise qualified person with a disability be excluded from participating in, denied benefits of, or subjected to discrimination with regard to any Kentucky postsecondary institution programs and activities.
- Survey of Accessibility Policy, Process and Practices for Internet-based Instruction
In spring of 2002, the Council determined the need for instruction that used the Internet at Kentucky postsecondary education institutions to be accessible. This report details the results of a survey, conducted by the Council in winter 2004, to determine the progress and results of institutional efforts to develop accessibility policies, guidelines, and process to ensure 100% compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act, Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act, and the W3C Guidelines for Accessibility.
