Anna Luu

Meet Anna Luu, one of our new interns in the Workforce and Economic Development Unit! Anna currently attends the University of Kentucky, pursuing a Master in Public Health (MPH), with a concentration in health, management and policy.

We recently caught up with her to hear about her education goals and what new and exciting things she will be learning though her CPE internship.

What drew you to CPE?

The work CPE does is very meaningful, creating a lasting impact on students across Kentucky.  I was drawn to its goal of increasing educational attainment and workforce readiness among individuals.

Why do you think the work our workforce unit does matters? Why should people listen?

The work of our Healthcare Workforce Unit matters because increasing the healthcare workforce in Kentucky would improve patient outcomes, ensure access to quality care and ultimately strengthen health systems across the state. People should listen because a larger, more diverse healthcare workforce would be better equipped to meet patient needs, especially in Kentucky’s rural areas, where access is currently limited for older populations and those with complex healthcare needs.

Why does higher education matter to you?

Higher education matters to me because it has provided me an environment to continuously learn and improve upon my personal and professional skills.

What skills/insights do you hope to gain out of this experience?

Through this internship, I hope to learn more about the intersection of higher education, healthcare, and workforce development. In addition, I hope to gain exposure to the areas of policy implementation, cross-sector collaboration, stakeholder engagement and real-world data collection and reporting.

Ultimately, what difference do you hope your contributions will make for higher education in Kentucky?

I would like my contributions to assist in CPE’s mission to foster an accessible, affordable and high-quality postsecondary education system in Kentucky.

One fun fact about yourself:

She enjoys arts and crafts!
